Migrating from the old website

GymNotes has moved from https://gymnotes.uk to https://app.gymnotes.co.uk. Workout data is stored separately for each website, so you need to transfer it to the new address. Do this as soon as possible because the old websites may become unavailable.

If you have trouble moving your data, email me at nathan@gymnotes.co.uk.

Guide

From the old website (gymnotes.uk)

  1. From the GymNotes dashboard, click the Settings icon.
  2. In Settings, go to Workout Data and click Backup.
  3. Download your workout data as a backup file. If your latest data exists only in the legacy backup service, restore it on the old site first, then download a new backup file.
    1. Download backups regularly so you have another way to restore your data.
  4. You are now ready to move to the new site.
  5. Go to the new home of GymNotes, https://app.gymnotes.co.uk/
  6. If you use GymNotes as an app, add the new website to your home screen. The steps differ for iOS and Android. See MDN's installation guide.
  7. In the new GymNotes app, or on the website if you skipped step 6, click the Settings icon.
  8. In Settings, go to Workout Data and click Restore.
  9. Upload the backup file you downloaded from the old site.
  10. Once your workout data is restored, you can connect Google Drive and create a new backup if you want to.
  11. If you use GymNotes as an app, remove the old icon from your home screen only after creating the backup. Removing it earlier will delete your data.

From this website

  1. A box on this website's homepage should tell you that old workout data was found.
    1. If it does not appear, click Have old workout data on this site? at the bottom of the page.
  2. Download your workout data as a backup file.
  3. Continue from step 4 above.

Questions

Why did GymNotes move?

I develop and run GymNotes in my spare time. Each domain costs money to renew, so I decided to reduce the number of GymNotes domains from two to one.

Didn't I already do this?

You may previously have moved from gymnotes.uk to gymnotes.co.uk. GymNotes now lives at app.gymnotes.co.uk, while gymnotes.co.uk is intended for the app's documentation. Sorry for asking you to move again.

Will GymNotes move again?

I do not intend to move GymNotes away from the new domain. If that changes, I will give as much notice as possible.

This is inconvenient

Sorry for the inconvenience. You can send suggestions or ideas for improvements through the form in GymNotes.
